Truth and Avoiding Deception
Record impressions. Being
converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ means both knowing and living the
gospel. You’re more likely to act on what you learn if you write it down. If
you are teaching, invite the people you teach to record their spiritual
impressions.
For kids:
I
can know for myself that the Book of Mormon is true.
Moroni
10:3–4
I can know
the truth of all things by the power of the Holy Ghost.
Moroni
10:3–7
Moroni 10:3–4 Look for the words Read, Remember, Ponder, and Ask!
Moroni buried the plates,
not so that they would remained buried, but to preserve them from the Lamanites
who’d destroy them. Don’t you bury them. Use them and learn through the Spirit
the lessons Heavenly Father has for you.
Chapter 54:
The Promise of the Book of Mormon
For kids:
Heavenly
Father gives me spiritual gifts.
Moroni
10:8–19
Moroni
10:9–16 Wrap up each verse like a
gift. Let the children unwrap and read them.
Heavenly Father wants us to
use these gifts to bless His children, our brothers and sisters.
What gifts has Heavenly
Father given you?
God
has given me spiritual gifts.
Moroni
10:8–25
Moroni
10:8 Don’t deny the gifts of
God. Determine to use them to bless others and to help others to see and value
their own gifts.
As you read Moroni
10:8–25, looks for what spiritual
gifts are and how they are used. Do you recognize your own spiritual gifts?
What are some examples of people used the gifts listed in Moroni
10:9–16? (See notes below)
I
can be perfected through the grace of Jesus Christ.
Moroni
10:30–33
Moroni 10:30–33 We are invited to Come unto Christ and be perfected in Him. We are invited to become whole through Him. We are invited to develop His divine attributes and to become like Him.
How has The Book of Mormon, along with the Come Follow Me study guide helped you to become nearer to Jesus Christ?
Are you firmer in your testimony? Do you acknowledge the
goodness of Jesus and testify of Him as your Redeemer and Friend?
Gift others the gift of sharing your testimony with them.

What does Jesus want us to do? What promises has He made to us?
Moroni
10:32 How can we love “God with
all my might, mind, and strength”? How do we show God that we love Him?
I’m including this entry that I made while reading The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ a few years
ago:
I love The
Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ
Today I finished reading The
Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ.
There is much to be gained in the final chapter, written by the prophet Moroni,
in the way of understanding our responsibilities and the blessings we can
receive. I have compiled the following list from Moroni
chapter 10. I love the messages of this sacred
testament of scripture. Nothing can be lost through reading it, and everything
can be gained. Thank you for taking the time to read this list. I hope you feel
inspired to read the book.

A testimony of the Book of
Mormon comes by the power of the Holy Ghost—The gifts of the Spirit are
dispensed to the faithful—Spiritual
gifts always accompany faith—Moroni’s words speak from the dust—Come
unto Christ, be perfected in Him, and sanctify your souls. About A.D. 421.
Do you see that? There is no other condition. Those who are faithful are blessed with spiritual gifts.
Vs 3-5 We can find out the truth to anything with which we are presented. If we study it, and pray to God in faith, He will manifest whether it is true by the power of the Holy Ghost. I put Moroni's challenge to the test when I was 12-years-old, and I do know that The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ is true.
Vs 6-7 All good things come of Christ and testify of Him. You may know that Jesus is the Christ by the power of the Holy Ghost. Never deny your testimony of Him.
As
you read Moroni
10:8–25, looks for what spiritual
gifts are and how they are used. Do you recognize your own spiritual gifts?
What are some examples of people used the gifts listed in Moroni
10:9–16?
Vs 8-18
Vs 8 Do not deny the gifts of God. He gives them to men, severally, according to His will.
Vs 9 Gift to teach the word of wisdom (application)
Vs 10 Gift to teach the word of knowledge (testimony)
Vs 11 Gift of faith; gift of healing
Vs 12 Gift to work mighty works (faith to see and be involved in miracles, bringing others to Christ)
Vs 13 Gift to prophesy of all things (testimony of Jesus Christ)
Vs 14 Gift to see angels and ministering Spirits (trust from the Lord to not see for what you shouldn’t, but to minister yourself as well)
Vs 15 Gift to understand and speak many languages
Vs 16 Gift to be able to decipher and interpret languages
Vs 17 These gifts come by the Spirit of Christ, and He are distributed through Him
Vs 18 Every good gift comes from Christ
Vs 19 There will always be gifts from the Spirit on this earth, as long as there are men, women, and children who are believers.
Vs 20-22 We have to have faith, hope, and charity
Vs 23 In order to hold onto faith, we must also practice hope and charity. We will be able to do all things through Christ that are necessary for us to do.
Vs 24-26 Even if there are but few who believe in these things and who trust in Jesus, those people will still have the gifts of the Spirit and work miracles.
Vs 27-29 Moroni asks us to remember all these things. He is speaking truth, and we can know it through the prayer of faith and the power of the Holy Ghost. His testimony will continue to go forth and cover the earth.
Vs 30 Choose wisely good over evil. Do not touch the unclean gift. You will know the gifts of the Spirit by the presense of the Holy Ghost in your life.
Vs 31-33 Awake to the sense of your duty and purpose. Engage in the mission of the work of God and help bring souls unto Jesus Christ, so that both you and they have access to His grace and can become sanctified through the your faith in Him and His atonement, and by the reception of the Holy Ghost in your lives.
Never deny His power. Remember the things that the Spirit has taught you and hold fast to your faith in Jesus Christ. Be true to Him.
Vs 34 Just like Moroni has been resurrected. We will be resurrected. We will meet him. The Lord will know whether or not we have received his testimony and the testimony of all the holy prophets. The Spirit of Revelation is the Testimony of Jesus Christ.
