Mosiah 2:14 King Benjamin labored along with his people. He didn’t heavily tax them or put unnecessary burdens on them. He didn’t live off the labors of his people.

Mosiah 2:11 He served his people with all of his might, mind, and strength….which the Lord granted unto him. (So it could very well have been beyond his natural capacity.

Mosiah 3:5, 9 King Benjamin taught his people that they should worship their Heavenly King, Jesus Christ. He told them of the miracles that He’d perform and how He would bring us salvation.

Search [the scriptures] diligently.
Mosiah 1:1–7

Sacred records bless us:

Vs 1 to not be contentious, so that we can have peace.
Vs 2 to become people of understanding and to be literate.
Vs 3 to understand the word of God, so that we don’t suffer in ignorance.
Vs 4 to be able to teach our children the things of God.
Vs 5 to be reminded of truth and to remember the Lord and His promises.
Vs 6 to have truth at our fingertips.
Vs 7 to know the commandments and the promises, so that we can keep them and be blessed.

For kids:

When I serve others, I am serving God.
Mosiah 2:11–18

Mosiah 2–3 Teach the children some of the things King Benjamin taught the people; then let them take turns role playing being King Benjamin.

Mosiah 2:17 Help your children memorize this verse. Why do you think Heavenly Father wants us to serve one another?

Mosiah 2:11–18  How did King Benjamin serve his people? He didn’t give them heavy taxes. He didn’t put them in dungeons or permit them to commit crimes. He taught them to keep the commandments. He worked with his own hands to serve the people. He taught them to serve each other and to serve God.

How can you serve members of your family? How can you serve your ward members and your friends?

Repeat some activities and some teaching stories. Everyone benefits from repetition.

When I serve others, I am also serving God.
Mosiah 2:10–26

Mosiah 2:11 We should serve with all our might, mind, and strength; because, when we are serving each other, we are also serving God. (vs 27)

Mosiah 2:10–26 vs 22 The best way that we can show our love for God and serve Him is to keep His commandments. Be better about serving each week. Be a ministering sister.

How can we overcome the challenges that keep us from serving? (Good discussion point—manage time better. Be orderly. Accept help yourself. Use your phone to call people. Make plans. Make appointments. Schedule it in. Pray more. Go to the temple more.)

Have you felt the blessings that come from serving others?

For Him

Look for opportunities to serve others. And be better about looking for service opportunities for the missionaries.

For kids:

All of my blessings come from Heavenly Father.
Mosiah 2:19–25

King Benjamin had so much love and gratitude for His Heavenly Father, so he wanted to serve Him. He knew he could do this by serving his people.

How does serving others help you to love them more?

Mosiah 2:21 We can never do enough to pay back Heavenly Father and Jesus for everything they do for us, because they just keep loving and blessing us. But if we love them, we can keep their commandments, and we can serve one another.

What are some of the things Heavenly Father has blessed you with?

Gratitude Sing some Primary songs about gratitude. Let the children look at pictures of Jesus while you sing with them. When the music stops, whoever is holding the picture of Jesus can tell what he or she is grateful for.

Mosiah 2:22–24 They best way to show Heavenly Father how thankful we are is by keeping His commandments. When we do, He will continue to bless us.

Happiness comes from keeping the commandments of God.
Mosiah 2:38–41

Vs 41 “…Ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.:

For kids:

Jesus Christ will help me become more like Him.

Mosiah 3:5–10, 19

Mosiah 3:5–10 Look through Gospel Library pictures (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/gospel-art-book/new-testament?lang=eng&para=p5-figure3_p1#p5) with the children for these events concerning Jesus’s life and ministry. (These numbers are helpful nos. 3041425759)

Mosiah 3:19 Look for the recipe of how we can become more like Jesus Christ.

1.      Following the promptings of the Holy Ghost.

2.      Repent for the things that you do wrong and are enticed by.

3.      Become a Saint through the power of Jesus Christ’s atonement.

4.      Become like a little child: submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love

5.      Be willing to submit to the Lord’s will, even as a child doth submit to his father.

I can become a saint through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

Mosiah 3:1–20

Mosiah 3:13 It is wonderful that we can receive a remission of our sins and rejoice with exceedingly great joy because of the deliverance we have through Jesus Christ’s love and atonement for us. Prophets and missionaries have always shared this good news. So did King Benjamin.

(See questions to Ponder in the reading of Mosiah 3 below:)

I can receive forgiveness as I exercise faith in Christ. “The Lord Omnipotent … shall come down from heaven.”
Mosiah 3:5–21

Think about what a wonderful blessing it is to have electricity and how you benefit from that. The Savior can bring far greater power into your life!

“The angel who appeared to King Benjamin referred to Jesus Christ as ‘the Lord Omnipotent,’ a title that means He has all power.”

Do you believe that Jesus has all power? Why do you still keeping trying to be in control of everything? Pray more to the Father in the name of Jesus, and He will bless you with what you need.

King Benjamin teaches his sons the language and prophecies of their fathers—Their religion and civilization have been preserved because of the records kept on the various plates—Mosiah is chosen as king and is given custody of the records and other things. About 130–124 B.C.

Vs 2-6 The preservation and teaching of historical and religion records are important. They are vital to our temporal and spiritual salvation.

Vs 7 It is important for every person to read the scriptures and to seek spiritual truth and guidance.

Vs 13 This verse stands as a warning to the people of the United States, who have become a wicked and adulterous people. We need to repent if we want the Lord to fight our battles.

https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/bofm/mosiah/2?lang=eng

King Benjamin addresses his people—He recounts the equity, fairness, and spirituality of his reign—He counsels them to serve their Heavenly King—Those who rebel against God will suffer anguish like unquenchable fire. About 124 B.C.

Vs 9 It's nearly General Conference again. You have been invited to go hear prophets, seers, and revelators. Will you open your ears so that you can hear, your heart so that you can understand, and your might so that the mysteries of God can be unfolded to your view?

What will you do to prepare yourself for conference?

Vs 16-17 reason to serve. Are you serving because your love God and your fellowmen? Are you developing chairty?

Vs 18-19 King Benjamin set a good example for us. Even though he was a king he labored to serve his people. We should do the same.

Heavenly Father and Jesus have done all to serve us and set us on the path to happiness. We need to serve them and be thankful.

Vs 22 Remember that Heavenly Father doesn't ask for much in return for His boundless generosity to you. He just wants you to be faithful and keep His commandments, so that you can realize and obtain all the blessings He has in store for those that love Him.

Vs 32 Argumentation can cause dissensions and apostasy. Don't be the cause of this or engage in this.

Vs 36
Those who trangress and go contrary to the things that they've been taught and know to be true, withdraw themselves from the Spirit of the Lord so that it has no place in them to guide them in wisdom's paths, to bless, prosper, and preserve them.

Vs 41 Keeping the commandments brings happiness and peace now and forever.

King Benjamin continues his address—The Lord Omnipotent will minister among men in a tabernacle of clay—Blood will come from every pore as He atones for the sins of the world—His is the only name whereby salvation comes—Men can put off the natural man and become Saints through the Atonement—The torment of the wicked will be as a lake of fire and brimstone. About 124 B.C.

Here are some questions to ponder as you read King Benjamin’s testimony of the Savior in Mosiah 3:1–20:

Vs 1-4 Because of his prayers and desires, the Lord revealed His future mission to King Benjamin by an angel.

·        What do I learn from these verses about the Savior and His mission?

Vs 5-8 King Benjamin saw and the love and mission of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Eternal good would come to earth as a man to serve the children of the world. He would heal the sick and raise the dead, and do many miracles. He would cast out devils, and the evil thoughts that dwell in our hearts. He would suffer all things for us, and take upon Himself our sins, so that He could heal us. He is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, and the creator of all things, and His mother would be called Mary.

Vs 9-13 He brought salvation to all that will believe on His name. But He was judged by His people and condemned to death. He willingly atoned for everyone that will repent.

Prophets have been sent to teach all people to believe in Jesus Christ, so that they can receive a remission of their sins through faith in Him, and rejoice with great joy.

·        What do I learn from Mosiah 3:18–19 about what it means to become a saint?

Vs 16-19
Through the power of God and the atonement of Jesus Christ, all little children are saved.

We are to become like little children and put off the natural men. We can become saints through following the promptings of the Holy God and accessing the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ through faith in Him and repentance. We need to be willing to submit to our Heavenly Father's will.

Vs 26 For some things the conditions are set, and they cannot be changed. Personal choice to repent is very necessary.

How has Jesus Christ helped me overcome sin, change my nature, and become more like a saint?

What do you learn from Mosiah 3:5–21 about how the Savior uses this power? How have you seen the Savior’s power in your life and in the lives of people around you? What does His power enable you to do and to become? How would your life be different without it?
