Mosiah 7:1
In seasons where you are enjoying peace, security, and safety, does your heart
and do your thoughts turn to those who you might help?
Mosiah 7:24
Are we organizing search parties to locate and invite back those who’ve lost
their way? Are we offering others a hope for their deliverance?
Mosiah 7:19
When we are reminded about and feel our Father’s love, we can lift up our
hearts and rejoice, and we can invite others to do the same.
Mosiah 7:33
Whatever our location relative to the covenant path, we all are in need of
repentance and the mercy of the Lord. We can gain access to the Atonement of
Jesus Christ through faith in Him.
For kids:
God helped people in the
scriptures, and He can help me.
King Limhi shared scripture stories with his people to help
them increase their faith. How do scriptures stories inspire you and help you
to be faithful? Which scripture stories are your favorites? Why? (You can share
pictures to remind young children of the stories.)
Read Mosiah 7:19:
Therefore, lift up your heads, and rejoice, and put your trust in God, in that God who was
the God of Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob; and also, that God who brought the children of Israel out of the
land of Egypt, and caused that they should walk through the Red Sea on dry ground, and fed them with manna that they might not perish in the wilderness; and
many more things did he do for them.

The Israelites
in the Wilderness: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/old-testament-stories-2022/the-israelites-in-the-wilderness?lang=eng
How did the Lord help the Israelites in these stories? How
does He help us today?
Jesus Christ has the power
to deliver me.
When King Limhi met Ammon, he gained hope; and he wanted his
people to hear what he’d heard and gain hope too. How have the missionaries
offered this hope to investigators, either to you or to your ancestors?
Mosiah 7:20–25
Zeniff’s people had become subjects to the king of the Lamanites, and they had
have taxes and burdens placed on them.
(See notes to this section below in Mosiah 7.)
I was created “after the
image of God.”
Mosiah 7:26–27
Mosiah 7:26–27
Abinidi became a martyr because He testified that we were created in the image
of God, and that Jesus, who was the God and Father of all things, would be born
into mortality.
Today, people are still outraged by Christian beliefs, that
we are children of God created in His image, and that Jesus the Christ is the
Son of God and the Savior of the world. The love their sins more than they love
the truth.
Your Body: A
Magnificent Gift to Cherish
The Lord provides prophets,
seers, and revelators to benefit mankind.
Mosiah 8:13–19
Seers are important. They have an even greater gift than prophets, who teach
and testify of Jesus Christ. They can see things past, present, and future
according to the truth of the testimony of the Spirit. A seer is also a
revelator and a prophet. The king, Mosiah, had the gift of being a seer and had
the seer stones with which he could translate records of ancient date.
Mosiah 8:19
Limhi was very excited to hear that the Nephite king would be able to translate
the records that his people had found.
The First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve have all been
called, sustained, and set apart as prophets, seers, and revelators.
Mosiah 8:18
We are greatly benefited by their words and the guidance from the Lord that we
receive from them. I am looking forward to general conference to again hear
their words. They testify of Christ and teach according to the Spirit and the
knowledge that we have already gained through other ancient and modern-day
prophets.
Are you willing to boldly testify of Jesus Christ and that
there are prophets, seers and revelators on the earth today that teach us about
Him and how to prepare for His Second Coming.
Will you be better about sharing your testimony about and
belief in prophets with your family and friends? You could share conference
messages, and/or invite them to watch conference for themselves.
Things you can testify about:
1.
Joseph Smith was called by God to be the prophet
of this dispenstation.
2.
From Joseph we learned that the resurrection is
real and that Jesus has a resurrected body of flesh and bones.
3.
We learned also that the Father, the Son, and
the Holy Ghost are three separate Personages, with the same purpose, and
together they make us the Godhead. The Father and Son are resurrected Beings,
and the Holy Ghost is a Personage of Spirit.
4.
We are the Spirit children of loving Heavenly
Parents.
5.
Families can be sealed together through eternity
through faith in Jesus Christ and receiving the ordinances of the gospel and by
making and keeping sacred covenants.
6.
The benefits of keeping the commandments of God.
The
Restoration of the Fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ
The Family: A
Proclamation to the World
Mosiah 8:17
During conference, pay attention to what the speakers say about things which
are to come.
For kids:
God has given us prophets, seers,
and revelators.
What tools do we have to help us see better? Glasses,
magnify lenses, binoculars, and microscopes.
Prophets can also help us see better. They are like watchmen
on a tower that can see more and farther than we can.
Read Mosiah 8:17 “But
a seer can know of things which are past, and also of things which are to come,
and by them shall all things be revealed, or, rather, shall secret things be
made manifest, and hidden things shall come to light, and things which are not
known shall be made known by them, and also things shall be made known by them
which otherwise could not be known.”
(Children could pretend to be holding binoculars whenever
they hear the word “seer”.)
Why is it important for prophets to see the future and/or to
tell us about truth? They warn us, so that we can learn the truth ourselves and
so that we can be prepared.
What are some things that the prophets have revealed to us?
Read Mosiah 8:16–18 16 And Ammon said that a seer is a revelator and a prophet also; and
a gift which is greater can no man have, except he should possess the
power of God, which no man can; yet a man may have great power given him from
God.
17 But a seer can know of things which are past, and also of things
which are to come, and by them shall all things be revealed, or, rather, shall
secret things be made manifest, and hidden things shall come to light, and
things which are not known shall be made known by them, and also things shall be
made known by them which otherwise could not be known.
18 Thus God has provided a means that man, through faith, might work
mighty miracles; therefore he becometh a great benefit to his fellow beings.
Complete the following sentence in different ways:
A seer is like a … who helps us … .
(example: a seer is like a traffic sign who points us to Jesus.)
How can we follow the prophets?
For kids:
When I am weak, the Lord can
strengthen me.
Challenges often leave us feeling weak and helpless. How can
we help others rely on the Lord’s strength?
What do we do to become physically strong?
Mosiah 10:11
The Lamanites were strong according to the strength of man. What does that mean?
How far can physical strength carry us? What happens when we are physically, emotional,
or mentally unwell?
Mosiah 9:17–18; 10:10 What does it mean to have the strength of the Lord with us?
When have you gone forth with the strength of the Lord to confront your own battles
(that happen within or without)? Why is prayer important for us to be able to
have the courage, determination, faith, and strength to push forward, even when
it’s difficult?
How do we receive the strength of the Lord? What can you do
today to strengthen your resolve to follow the Lord? What are you willing to
change and to do to feel His Spirit and have His strength with you?
You can discuss different idea, or journal your thoughts, or draw pictures. Remember
to apply what you are learning.
I can face my challenges “in
the strength of the Lord.”
Zeniff and his people landed themselves in a very difficult
situation. He admitted he was overzealous to gain the land of his father’s
inheritance. Are we ever in a hurry to have things go our way, instead of
seeking what the Lord would have us do?
When Zeniff acknowledged his mistake and took his problems to the Lord, he and
his people were properly prepared to face their challenges, because of the
faith that they had in the Lord.
How can repentance help us regain faith and be able to feel the Lord’s strength
in us again?
Mosiah 9:17; 10:10–11 Do
you believe that the Lord will fight your battles if you put trust in Him? Are
you willing to move forward with faith in every footstep to face your personal
goliaths in the strength of the Lord?
My choices can
influence generations.
How does knowing that your choices can influence those you associate
with now, and have a ripple effect far into the future, influence your
attitudes and what you choose to think, say and do?
How does anger within families destroy unity for many generations?
How can a righteous attitude and lifestyle bless you and
your family now and influence people far into the future?

Ammon finds the land of
Lehi-Nephi, where Limhi is king—Limhi’s people are in bondage to the
Lamanites—Limhi recounts their history—A prophet (Abinadi) had testified that
Christ is the God and Father of all things—Those who sow filthiness reap the
whirlwind, and those who put their trust in the Lord will be delivered. About
121 B.C.
Vs 12-13 This is interesting. Because Ammon was the son of a king himself,
just like Lamoni was; and yet, he rejected the kingdom for the very purpose of
finding Zeniff's people and bringing them back home.
Are
we sometimes too proud because of our lineage, and forget the Father of us all
loves us all?
Vs 13-14 Limhi was given hope
through the words of Ammon. He believed that his people would be redeemed from
the situation they were in. He wanted his people to have the same hope that he
had.
Vs 17-18 King Limhi gathers the people to the temple and tells them that soon
they won't be in subjection to their enemies; but, there is still a real
struggle ahead to put this into effect.
Ponder these
questions as you read Mosiah 7:14–33:
· What did Limhi say to
strengthen his people’s faith and hope in Christ?
verses 19-20 Limhi reminded
the people that the same God who helped the Israelites in the wilderness had
power to help them too.
Also, that same
God brought them forth from Jerusalem and preserved them , and could deliver
them again.
·
What phrases help you feel hope? (see verses
19, 33).
verses 19 19 Therefore,
lift up your heads, and rejoice, and put your trust in God, in that God who was the God of Abraham, and
Isaac, and Jacob; and also, that God who brought the children of Israel out of the land of
Egypt, and caused that they should walk through the Red Sea on dry ground, and
fed them with manna that
they might not perish in the wilderness; and many more things did he do for
them.
Vs 23-25 We the people also have great
reason to mourn because of our taxes and enslavement, also brought upon us
because of our iniquity.
But, what great reason do we
have to rejoice!
Vs 26-28 Abinidi was killed
because He testified that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, and that He would
take upon Himself flesh and blood and that we are created in the image of God.
Vs 30-31 All the morally evil things going on in our Country are bringing
upon us a great poisonous curse.
Also, the east winds here in
San Bernardino are terrible. We need to share the gospel and live it for
certain.
Vs
33 But if ye will turn to
the Lord with full purpose of heart, and put your trust in him, and serve him
with all diligence of mind, if ye
do this, he will, according to his own will and pleasure, deliver you out of
bondage.
Vs 33 The
Lord desires to free us from bondage. We have to do our part and trust in Him.
· What experiences have helped
you trust that God can and will deliver you?
The death of our son Robby. The Spirit of the Lord helping
me do daily tasks that sometimes seem insurmountable.

Ammon teaches the people of Limhi—He learns of
the twenty-four Jaredite plates—Ancient records can be translated by seers—No
gift is greater than seership. About 121 B.C.
Vs 7 While the people
of Limhi were eagerly looking for the land of Zarahemla, so that they might
petition their brethren for help to free them from bondage, the Lord prepared
men from Zarahemla to go find the people of Limhi and bring them home.
Vs 8-9 The people of Limhi
found relics from the Jaredite nation, and they found their written records.
Vs 13-18 We are blessed in our
day that there are fifteen men who have been called as prophets, seers, and
revelators, who have been given the gift of seership.

Zeniff
leads a group from Zarahemla to possess the land of Lehi-Nephi—The Lamanite
king permits them to inherit the land—There is war between the Lamanites and
Zeniff’s people. About 200–187 B.C.
Vs 3 Some afflictions are just
part of living in a small world; but, we should be quick to remember the Lord
our God, because He can make our challenges more manageable.

King Laman
dies—His people are wild and ferocious and believe in false traditions—Zeniff
and his people prevail against them. About 187–160 B.C.
