The purposes of God will go forth; His works do not fail. We can choose to move forward with Him and help to build Zion. With faith, we can rely on Him.
Alma 8:18 We can be like Alma and speedily do the Lord’s bidding, even when we have been disheartened and sorely persecuted. When we are on the Lord’s errand, God will prepare a way for us.
God will support and lead us, and bring friends and supporters into our life, when we do His will; just like He did for Alma.
My efforts to share the gospel of Jesus Christ require patience.
Have you ever experienced rejection when you’ve tried to share the gospel?
Alma 8:13–16 Alma was basically run out of Ammonihah, but an angel came to comfort him and support him and ask him to return and invite the people to repent.
In verses 17–32, and look for phrases that inspire you to keep sharing the gospel. (See notes below.)
We can learn from the inspired words of our apostles about
sharing the gospel:

It’s Hard? From Missionary

For kids:
I can share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Use the activity page to help children summarize the events in Alma 8-10.
Share principles that made Alma and Amulek good missionaries.
Alma 8:8–13 They didn’t give up.
Alma 9:26–27 They testified of Christ.
Alma 10:12 They worked together.
For kids:
I can be a good friend.
Alma 8:18–22 Allow the children to take turn role-playing being Alma and Amulek as you read about their first meeting.
How was Amulek a good friend to Alma?
Who has been a good friend to you? What has that person done to help you or to
make you happy. How do you feel about that person?
To whom have you been a good friend? What does it feel like inside to be a good
friend?
Make a friendship puzzle for children to do. (Cut out a picture of friends, with things that friends do written on the back of each piece. Read what is written as you help the children put the puzzle together.)
God’s blessings come with great responsibility..
Alma 9:20 The people who lived in Ammoniah had apostatized. They once were believers who’d lived the gospel and had been blessed and highly favored of the Lord.
Alma 9:14–23 What blessings had the Lord given to the Nephites? Think about what blessings He has given you. (See notes below in Alma 9.)
Doctrine and
Covenants 50:24 If we receive light from God and act about it, He
will keep giving us more light.
82:3
The more that we are given, the more is required of us.
93:39
When we are disobedient and sin, we forfeit our light to Satan.
For kids:
God’s plan is a plan of redemption.
Have the children draw a picture about our Heavenly Father’s Plan of Redemption. They could include information about the Creation, the Fall of Adam and Eve, the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and the Resurrection. You could also discuss the Doctrine of Christ and have them learn the fourth article of faith.
God’s plan is a plan of redemption.
As you read about The Plan of Redemption, writing a summary
about the concepts listed in your reading of Alma 11-12: (The Fall, Redeemer, Repentace,
Death, Resurrection, Judgment).
Alma 11:46
Amulek spoke with power and authority, and the people were astonished, and
Zeezom trembled. (It’s wonderful that Zeezrom was able to develop faith in the
Savior and put this plan into action into his own life.)
The Great Plan

For kids:
Because of Jesus Christ, I will be resurrected.
Show the concept of death and resurrection by using a glove
as your body and your hand as your spirit. Show that when your hand isn’t in
the glove, it’s like the glove is dead. When your hand enters the glove again,
it can move and is alive again.
Our spirits and bodies will be joined together again in the resurrection; and
we will never die again.
Read Alma 11:43, while allowing the children to experiment with the glove.

Heavenly Father made it possible for all of us to be resurrected through the gift of His Son. Jesus Christ was willing to atone for us to make this possibility a reality.
If I do not harden my heart, I can receive more of the word of God.
Alma 12:8–18
Alma 12:9–14 Heavenly Father teaches us according to our ability to receive and understand; and also to our faith in Jesus Christ and our willingness to follow Him.
How does having a hardened heart keep us from recognizing and accepting truth?
Alma 8:9–11 When our hearts are hardened, we are not humble and repentant, and we don’t see any necessity for change in our lives.
9:5, 30–31 Hardened hearts prevent us from feeling the Spirit and from developing a relationship with our Heavenly Father. Hardened hearts make us feel anger towards those who speak the truth.
10:6, 25 Have you ever hardened your own heart, refusing to hear the word of the Lord and His counsel given through His leaders? Have you ever refused to listen? Do you value the truth more or the riotous living of the day?
Jeremiah 24:7 We can turn our hearts to God by developing faith in His Son. As we do so, the Lord will give us a new heart. If we turn to Him with our whole hearts, we can know His as our God, and through covenants, we become His people.
Alma 16:16 Those who are pure in heart become a Zion type community, with no poor among them. The Lord blesses us when we seek this unity and love.
Helaman 3:35 Fasting and prayer can help us in our process to becoming the Lord’s disciples and receiving a new heart. When we yield our hearts to God and receive the Holy Ghost, we are sanctified through Him.
Alma 12:13 We need to make certain that we soften our hearts and allow God’s words to be found in us.
Alma 12:14 When we have the Spirit, we can forsake those things that distance us from the Lord.
Alma 10:1–11 Because Amulek softened his heart and hearkened to the words of the angel, and because he housed a prophet of God, he and his family were blessed.

Alma preaches and baptizes in
Melek—He is rejected in Ammonihah and leaves—An angel commands him to return
and cry repentance unto the people—He is received by Amulek, and the two of
them preach in Ammonihah. About 82 B.C.
Vs 1 Alma returned home between missions, to rest and
probably to asssociate with family and friends before returning to more
missionary work!
Vs 4-5 The people in
Melek were ready to hear and ready to follow.
Vs 8-11 Even with Alma's
faith and prayers, the people of Ammoniah refused to listen and didn't want to
follow. Satan had a hold on their hearts. Work more and more on giving your
heart to the Lord.
Vs 15-18The angel communicated to Alma both comfort and direction. Alma obeyed God's will and returned speedily.
There are people in our country and throughout the world who are striving to overthrow the liberty of the people. We need to practice faith and prayer like Alma did, and we need to preach the gospel and invite others to come to Zion and to the Lord.
Vs
19-27 Amulek was also called to this work
by an angel of God, and he heeded the call. He received Alma into his home and
his home was blessed. Alma was refreshed here, and I'm certain Amulek was
taught. There was a preparatory period before they went forth to teach the
people and cry repentance.MTC.
Vs 29-32 Both Alma and Amulek
were called to preach and they were given power and authority from God to do
so.
In verses 17–32,
and look for phrases that inspire you to keep sharing the gospel.
Vs 15 If we are faithful in keeping the commandments of God, we have a great
reason to rejoice!
Vs 30 It is when we determine to declare the words of God, or to share our
testimonies, that we are given by the Holy Ghost the things that we should say.
Vs 31-32 Missionaries have
power given to them so that they can fulfull their callings; so that they can
preach and prophesy to the people, according to the Spirit and power which God
has given them.

Alma commands the people of
Ammonihah to repent—The Lord will be merciful to the Lamanites in the last
days—If the Nephites forsake the light, they will be destroyed by the
Lamanites—The Son of God will come soon—He will redeem those who repent, are
baptized, and have faith in His name. About 82 B.C.
Vs 9-13 It is important for us to remember how good the Lord
has been to us and to our parents and all our family!
Alma 9:14–23 What blessings had the Lord given to the Nephites? They’d been blessed with the gospel and the doctrine of Christ, the covenant and the priesthood.
Think about what blessings He has given you.
What responsibilities come with blessings? What are you doing to stay true to the Lord for the blessings that He has given you?
Vs 12 We need to look to our
past and our ancestors past and remember. We need to repent and make and keep
covenants with the Lord.
Vs 16-17 The Lamanites
received future promises. They weren't taught about God because of the choices
of their fathers. But they will also learn the gospel and many of them will be
saved.
Vs 20-23 Like the Saints in Latter-days, the Nephites had been blessed without measure.
If we do not pause to express gratitude for the many favors the Lord bestows upon us, we will fail to see the miracles and the blessings, and we will fall away. Remember to be grateful. The best ways to show our gratitude is in prayer, singing, and ministering.
Vs 25-29 Remember that Jesus
did come. Believe in Him. Believe that He will come again and prepare for that.
Remember every day and do something production to help yourself and others be
prepared.

Lehi descended from
Manasseh—Amulek recounts the angelic command that he care for Alma—The prayers
of the righteous cause the people to be spared—Unrighteous lawyers and judges
lay the foundation of the destruction of the people. About 82 B.C.
Vs 5-6 Make sure that you hearken to the voice of the Spirit.
Obey those promptings and you will see and recognize the miracles in your life;
and you will help hasten the work.
Vs 9-12 Amulek's
testimony is a second witness to the people that the words Alma spoke to them
are true.
Vs 13 It is very sad that
ayone would wilfully choose to condemn someone wrongfully. This has to be one
of the most despicable things I have ever experienced and witnessed.
Vs 17-18 People who
have leadership or power and condemn the righteous and lead others to follow
after their wickedness will have a lot to answer for.
Vs 19 This seems to be
the state of our Country today.
Vs 20-23 This could
very well be addressed to leaders of our nation in this day and time.
Vs 38-44 All shall die,
and all shall be resurrection because of the atonement and resurrection of
Jesus. Only those who are repentant and follow Jesus will gain eternal life.
Vs 45 After we are resurrected, we will never die again.

The Nephite monetary system is set forth—Amulek
contends with Zeezrom—Christ will not save people in their sins—Only those who
inherit the kingdom of heaven are saved—All men will rise in immortality—There
is no death after the Resurrection. About 82 B.C.
Vs 37 Salvation comes to those who
are made clean through the blood of Jesus Christ.
Christ can save us from our sins, but not in our sins.
https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/bofm/alma/12?lang=eng
Alma speaks to Zeezrom—The mysteries of God can
be given only to the faithful—Men are judged by their thoughts, beliefs, words,
and works—The wicked will suffer a spiritual death—This mortal life is a
probationary state—The plan of redemption brings to pass the Resurrection and,
through faith, a remission of sins—The repentant have a claim on mercy through
the Only Begotten Son. About 82 B.C.
Vs 5 How do we feel when we come
to understand for ourselves that we have been pawns in the evil one's plans?
Vs 8 Zeezrom is leaving
behind his conniving sinful self and is now seeking truth.
Vs 9 Hold private revelation
sacred and close to your own heart.
Vs 10-11 How we respond to
the revelation that we receive will determine if the Lord grants us more.
Vs 12-15 It is so important to repent and to learn to listen and hear the voice of the Lord now.
Vs 24-27 The fall was a necessary part of the plan of
redemption. Having time to repent and grow is essential to our progression.
Having agency allows us to choose to follow Jesus and become like our Heavenly
Father. God's gift of His Son and Jesus's atonement makes it possible for us to
enter into eternal life with Them.
Vs
28-34 The gospel has been declared to men through angels and through prophets.
We have been shown the plan and the way back to our Father. It is through Jesus
Christ and faith in Him.
Vs
37 Alma invites us to follow God's plan of salvation and be saved.
After you have read about The Plan of Redemption, writing a summary about the concepts listed in your reading of Alma 11-12:
The Fall; The Redeemer; Repentance; Death; Resurrection; Judgment
I used a Chatgpt discussion to address this:
From Me:
Please look over Alma 11 and 12 in The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of
Jesus Christ. These verses record much of The Plan of Redemption.
Then please write short summaries for the following concepts: The Fall; the
Redeemer; Repentance; Death; Resurrection; and Judgment.
Thank you.

Sure, I'd be happy to help! Here are short summaries of each concept based
on Alma 11 and 12 in The Book of Mormon:
The Fall (Alma 12:22-27):
The Fall refers to Adam and Eve's decision to partake of the forbidden
fruit, which resulted in their expulsion from the Garden of Eden. This act
brought mortality and spiritual death into the world, allowing mankind to experience
joy, sorrow, and agency.
The Redeemer (Alma 11:40-41):
The Redeemer refers to Jesus Christ, who was appointed by God to atone for
the sins of mankind. Through His infinite Atonement, Christ paid the price for
our sins, offering redemption and the opportunity for eternal life to all who
believe in Him and follow His teachings.
Repentance (Alma 12:24):
Repentance is the process of recognizing our sins, feeling sincere sorrow
for them, confessing them to God, and forsaking them. Through repentance, we
can access the cleansing power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and be forgiven
of our sins.
Death (Alma 12:24):
Death is the separation of the spirit from the body. It is a necessary part
of God's plan for His children, allowing them to progress beyond mortality and
receive a resurrected, perfected body.
Resurrection (Alma 11:42-45):
Resurrection is the reuniting of the spirit with the body in an immortal,
perfected state. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, all people will be
resurrected, regardless of their actions in mortality. This gift is made
possible by Christ's victory over death.
Judgment (Alma 12:12-18):
Judgment refers to the final assessment of our actions and desires in mortality. After being resurrected, all people will stand before God to be judged according to their works and the desires of their hearts. God, who is perfectly just and merciful, will determine the eternal destiny of each individual based on their choices and the condition of their hearts.
