My conversion to Jesus Christ and His gospel will change my life.
Alma 23–2527

The Ammonites are a testament that people can change. When we turn to the Lord, miracles can happen in our lives.

Alma 26:23–25 Our goal should always be inviting other to come to Christ and to find the joy in repentance that we have found. The proper way to get rid of enemies is to become friends.

The covenant path helps to change sinners into saints.

Alma 17:14 From hardened and ferocious to Alma 27:27 having zeal towards God, to Alma 23:6 becoming so converted that we will never fall away.

Alma 23:7 What weapons of rebellion do I need to lay down? What actions do I need to change or to start? Through the power of the atonement of Jesus Christ, we can all receive the hope that we can change and He will help us to move forward on His covenant path. Think Celestial, towards yourself and towards others.

For kids:

The Lord blesses me as I strive to keep my promises to Him.
Alma 24:6–24

Read Alma 24:6–24 with the children. Choose something I can change, and have the children choose something they will change. Write that down on activity page, and then bury it; just like the Anti-Nephi-Lehies buried their weapons of war.

Read read Alma 17:14–15 and 27:27–30 with the children and sort the corresponding behaviors of this people before and after they repented.

Alma 24:7–10 Many people are also changing today. It helps to have missionaries who are willing to share the gospel, and the convincing and sanctifying presence of the Holy Ghost, who testifies of truth.

How can I more fully show gratitude to my Heavenly Father for his mercy for me?

Because God is merciful, He forgives me as I repent.
Alma 24:7–1926:17–22

Just like the Anti-Nephi-Lehies, or the People of Ammon, we can experience not only a change of behavior, but a change of heart. As we align our desires with the Lord’s will, this happens. A change of heart is born of faith in Jesus Christ and sincere repentance.

Alma 24:7–19 Find a truth about repentance in each of these verses. (See notes in chapter 24.)

God is so merciful when we repent, that He takes away the stain and the pain and makes us clean again. He doesn’t hold our mistakes over us, and neither should we.

Alma 26:17–22 Look for more truths about repentance in these verses. (See notes in chapter 26.)

Take time to ponder the Lord’s mercies in your life, and take the time to express gratitude in vocal prayer and in service to others.

For kids:

I can repent.
Alma 24:7–1026:23–3427:27–30

Learn how the Anti-Nephi-Lehies repented.

Read Alma 17:14–15 and 27:27–30, and write down their before and after attitudes and actions, and separate those into the proper bowls.

Alma 24:7–10 What things helped them change? They learned that the traditions of their fathers were incorrect; their hearts were softened by the Spirit; they opened a correspondence with the Nephites; they learned that it is wrong to murder and to sin; they were grateful for the gift of repentance and forgiveness; and they had gratitude for Jesus Christ and His atonement.

How can we show thankfulness to Heavenly Father for His mercy?

For kids:

Jesus Christ brings me joy, and I can share this joy.
Alma 2629

Draw pictures of the things that bring you joy. Share gospel library pictures with the children. What things in the gospel of Jesus Christ bring you joy? Encourage the children to share their pictures with each other and their families. Spread the joy.

Look for the words Joy and rejoice in Alma 26 and 29.

Why did Alma and Ammon feel joy?

As we live and share the gospel, we also will feel joy and have a great reason to rejoice.

Sharing the gospel brings me joy.
Alma 2629

We can discover good recommendations for receiving joy; in Alma 23–29, the word joy appear 24 times.

Alma 26:12–22, 35–37; and 29:1–17 Why Ammon, the sons of Mosiah, and Alma rejoice? (See notes in chapters below.)

What can you do to find more joy in life?

“Sharing the gospel kindles joy and hope in the souls of both giver and receiver. … Sharing the gospel is joy upon joy, hope upon hope” (“Hold Up Your Light”, Elder Nash).

Think about the show you have felt when you share the gospel. Think of ways and schedule in time for opportunities to continue to share the gospel.

Share the gospel out of love; seek assistance of the Holy Ghost. Testify of Christ.

Look for patterns and themes. When studying the scriptures, we can find precious truths by looking for repeated words, phrases, or ideas. Those repeated ideas can be cross-referenced or linked in your scriptures to make them easier to see.

I can find shelter in Jesus Christ and His gospel.
Alma 26:5–7

Alma 26:5–7 Sheave brought into garners, and protected.

Bringing in the Sheaves

1 Sowing in the morning, sowing seeds of kindness,
Sowing in the noontide and the dewy eve;
Waiting for the harvest, and the time of reaping,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

Refrain:
Bringing in the sheaves,
Bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves;
Bringing in the sheaves,
Bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

2 Sowing in the sunshine, sowing in the shadows,
Fearing neither clouds nor winter's chilling breeze;
By and by the harvest, and the labor ended,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves. [Refrain]

3 Going forth with weeping, sowing for the Master,
Though the loss sustained our spirit often grieves;
When our weeping's over, He will bid us welcome,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves. [Refrain]

How do you find shelter in Jesus Christ? How are you helping to invite others to shelter in Christ?

Honorably Hold a Name and a Standing

Jesus, Lover of My Soul

1.Jesus, lover of my soul,

Let me to thy bosom fly,

While the nearer waters roll,

While the tempest still is high.

Hide me, O my Savior, hide,

Till the storm of life is past.

Safe into the haven guide;

Oh, receive my soul at last.

2.Other refuge have I none;

Hangs my helpless soul on thee.

Leave, oh, leave me not alone;

Still support and comfort me.

All my trust on thee is stayed;

All my help from thee I bring.

Cover my defenseless head

With the shadow of thy wing.

For kids:

I can help my friends live the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Alma 27:20–30

Alma 27:22–23 How did the Nephites help the Ammonites keep their promises to never use weapons of war again?

How can we help our friends keep their promises to stay on the covenant path? How can we encourage and uplift each other, so that we don’t lose our way?

Vs 7 God sends missionaries to teach the gospel, so that they can believe in Jesus Christ and repent.

Vs 8 God grants us a portion of His Spirit to soften our hearts, so that we can repair our relationships.

Vs 9 When we repair relationships, we can further see our own wrong doing and have a desire to change ourselves, instead of demanding change of others.

Vs 10 God gives us the gift of repentance, forgives us of our sins, and blesses us with peace of conscience through the merits of His Son.

Vs 11 It is not easy to repent of evil, but God makes it possible through His love. We should desire to sin no more.

Vs 12 We should make a promise to not sin again and to stand firm in our commitment to follow Jesus.

Vs 13 We should value the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and seek to follow His commandments.

Vs 7-12 The king only wanted to do the Lord's will. His people were willing to be massacred if that's what the Lord wanted. Thankfully, the Lord wanted them to join the Nephites.

Vs 16-19 After so many years, these men were all so happy to see one another again. They shared in their youthful rebellion and in their powerful conversion.

Vs 21-24 Today we have the I was a Stranger program. There are many refugees that come to the United States from all around the world, even from Country's of our enemies. We need to be welcoming to the afflicted and outcasts.

Vs 11-14 Knowing the Plan of Salvation brings so much hope and joy, even in the midst of sorrow. The gospel is the great equalizer, while sin breeds inequality.
