Moroni 1:1 I’m so glad that Moroni still had some time to write. Even though his people had been killed, and he had been wounded, he turned his thoughts to what he could write for us!

Mormon 8:35 Moroni had seen our day, and he wanted to warn us and help us prepare.

Moroni 1:4 The things that he wrote are definitely of great worth for our day.

Moroni 6:4 “He gave clarifying details about the sacrament, baptism, conferring the gift of the Holy Ghost, and the blessings of gathering with fellow believers to “keep [each other] in the right way, … relying alone upon the merits of Christ, who was the author and the finisher of [our] faith.”

I can follow Jesus Christ despite opposition.
Moroni 1

To this point, my opposition has not been as difficult as Moroni’s. But some of it has been difficult for me. How can I better follow Jesus Christ like Moroni did? I need to start seeking His face and trusting His grace. He wants to come to us. He wants to send angels to us. Remember this and think on it. Pray and prepare and follow Him be worshiping Him and serving His children.

Moroni 1:2–3 Moroni wouldn’t deny the Christ, so he had to be in hiding from those who would kill him because of his testimony. How am I faithful and steadfast in Christ? In what ways do people deny Him in our day? How can you personally do better? “Ponder how you can be faithful to Jesus Christ.”

Priesthood ordinances must be administered as the Lord commands.
Moroni 2–6

Moroni taught us about how to administer the gospel, even when he was in hiding and running for his life. It is important for us to know how the Lord wants us to minister, especially the sacred emblems of His sacrament.

Confirmation

Moroni 2:2 Those who are conferring the Gift of the Holy Ghost should themselves prepare by speaking with the Lord in prayer. The person is confirmed by the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost, in Jesus’s name, just as His apostles did.

Moroni 6:4 What does it means to be “wrought upon and cleansed by the power of the Holy Ghost”? We need to desire the Holy Ghost to be with us and we need to receive Him into our hearts and our lives as a companion. As we live the gospel and repent, He will work in us as a Sanctifier and cleanse and purify us.

Priesthood ordination

Moroni 3 can help prepare men for their ordination in the Priesthood. It can also help prepare them to know how to use that Priesthood to perform ordinances.

The sacrament prayers

Moroni 4–56:6

How can you make the sacrament the spiritual highlight of your week?

Baptism

Moroni 6:1–3 Some requirements that you should always be working on:

1.      Have a broken heart and contrite spirit

2.      Witness to the church that you have repented of all your sins

3.      Take upon yourself the name of Jesus and determine to serve Him to the end

4.      Be watchful unto prayer, and prayer for your fellow saints, so that they are remembered and nurtured in the good word of God

5.      Stay in the right way, be watchful unto prayer, rely upon the merits of Jesus Christ

6.      Follow the Spirit in how you teach and serve.

How will you think about, participate in, or prepare others for these ordinances?

Doctrine and Covenants 84:20 “Therefore, in the ordinances thereof, the power of godliness is manifest.”

For kids:

The Holy Ghost is a sacred gift.
Moroni 2–6

Help the scripture find verses that mention the Holy Ghost or the Holy Spirit in these chapters. Let them tell you what they learn.

Share with each other times when you’ve felt the influence of the Holy Ghost.

Taking the sacrament helps me draw closer to Jesus Christ.
Moroni 4–5

Try writing down the two sacrament prayers from memory.

Moroni 4:3 and 5:2 Take time to memorize them and/or to think about the significance of each phrase.

What things will you do this week to work on always remembering Him?

In Memory of the Crucified

For kids:

I take the sacrament to show that I will always remember Jesus Christ.
Moroni 4–5

Allow the children to take turns reading phrases from the sacrament prayers. Talk about what they mean and about what they mean to you. Ask the children how these prayers make them feel. Discuss the atonement and help them to understand that the sacrament can help us remember Jesus Christ and His great love for us. The sacrament is a sacred memory.

Activity page no. 108

You could sing this song Reverently, Quietly or another song like, “It shouldn’t be hard to sit very still and think about Jesus, His cross on the hill.”

For kids:

I can prepare to be baptized.
Moroni 6:1–3

Who can be baptized? Read Moroni 6:1–3 together.

Moroni 6:2 What does it mean to have a “broken heart and a contrite spirit”? (Sad over mistakes; humble; thankful for the Lord’s mercy; determined to follow Him and choose the right.)

How does faith in Jesus Christ and repentance help us to prepare for baptism?

Disciples of Jesus Christ care for each other’s souls.
Moroni 6:4–9

We all have our agency to decide to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. But once we are disciples, we should help to lift and strengthen each other. We are blessed to be able to learn discipleship in our families and our wards. It’s good to have people with a common goal, and we can all help each other.

Take time to think of someone you can minister to. What can you offer to them to help them? You have talents and abilities, and you have the Gift of the Holy Ghost to guide you in serving others. What needs do you see? I really need to get hold of Elaine. I should also call Leslie.

The Need for a Church: section I

Moroni 6:4 Nourished by the good word of God. We need to nourish seedlings so they’ll grow. We need to nourish babies and children so they grow and are secure. When we neglect plants they’ll with and die. When we neglect family and friends, relationships suffer; with babies and children, their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual progress can be thwarted. They can even die from neglect.

Moroni 6:4–9 How can I help to nourish others spiritually? How have others nourished me?

Why is it important to the Lord that we are “numbered among the people of the church of Christ and meet together oft in Church meetings? Why is it important to you?

The Need for a Church
